Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started?

You can click on the button in the top menu, or at the bottom of this page, that says “Schedule a Free 20-Minute Consultation.” For further information, you can also visit my “What to Expect” page.

What hours do you see clients?

I see clients Mondays-Thursdays from 1pm-6:30pm, and Fridays from 12:30pm-2pm. Please note that my evening sessions are popular and can book up in advance.

How often will we have sessions?

I typically recommend starting with weekly sessions, in order to jump-start your treatment and help you experience relief promptly. I recommend tapering off to every other week once you are meeting your treatment goals.

How long is each session?

Our first session will be 75 minutes, in order to give us time to discuss your background and your reasons for seeking therapy. Follow-up sessions are 45-60 minutes.

What insurances do you take?

I am an in-network provider with CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield. I am considered an out-of-network provider for all other insurances. Please visit my “Rates and Insurance” page for more information.

How long will I be in therapy?

It truly depends on the person. I have had some clients be in treatment for a few months, and I have some clients who have continued treatment for over a year. Any treatment length is okay, as long as we both continue to feel that we are a good fit to work together. (See the question below about how we will measure your progress.)

How will we measure my progress?

When we meet during our first session, we will discuss the ways in which you would like to change/grow. We will use this information to set up your treatment plan, so that we focus on what is important to you. We’ll check in about your treatment plan regularly, so we can assess your progress towards your treatment goals. I will also ask you to complete a questionnaire periodically, to evaluate how effective therapy has been so far.

What happens if I feel like I’m not getting better?

It is incredibly important to me that you feel comfortable talking to me about your therapy experience. If you feel like things are not working for you, I encourage you to let me know right away, so we can make appropriate adjustments. If things still don’t feel better, I am happy to help refer you to a therapist that might be a better fit.

Do you do couples/family therapy? How about working with kids/teens?

I only offer individual therapy at this time, for clients ages 18+. That said, if we agree it would be helpful for a family member to join us for a session, we can do so.

Do you do in-person therapy, online therapy, or a combination?

I do 100% online therapy, for clients located in the state of Maryland. My clients report enjoying the flexibility and comfort that online therapy provides. If you're concerned or have questions about doing online therapy, check out my “Tips for Online Therapy” page for assistance.

If you don’t see the answer to your question here, feel free to ask it during your free consultation!
